2016 - Year 15 in Review!

2016 was a very exciting year for Jimmy and the Beans! The year started with a bang, when we teamed up with the Eddie the Eagle team to promote the film - Jimmy (and a few other Beans) were even lucky enough to meet the film's stars, Hugh Jackman & Taron Egerton! This was also the year of Toshstrology, Jimmy's first appearance on HSN, and our first participation with the Spellbinders program!

The start of Jimmy's English Garden Felted Carpetbag.
This was also the year that our good friends at Crystal Palace Yarns announced that they would be retiring the yarn portion of their business (they will still continue the needle portion!). In Jimmy's own words, "I met Susan and Andy through our sales rep, Marge - who also happened to be the designer Ann Norling. Susan and Marge had known each other for years and years. It was in the middle of the scarf craze of the mid 2000s - and Andy and Susan had created some of the hottest yarns on the market. It didn't take long before I started visiting with them at shows - and eventually went to visit their warehouse in Richmond, CA! My favorite memory is touring their warehouse in Richmond...I had never been to a yarn warehouse before - and I couldn't get over how huge it was...and was in awe of all the yarn!!" Jimmy's favorite Crystal Palace pattern is the English Garden Felted Carpetbag.

Thank you for joining us on Day 15, the final day of Jimmy's Journey to 15! We've had so much fun traveling down memory lane, and bringing you along with us - we hope that you've enjoyed the journey as much as we have! We are so grateful for you, our customers (who have turned into wonderful friends), and hope that you will join us for the next 15 years!

XOXO,

Jimmy & the Beans

2015, Year 14 - Dedicated to Sandy Hussey

If you've ever met Sandy, you know that she was an absolute firecracker - a total pistol - who would keep you on your toes and laughing, all at the same time! Self-proclaimed as the "sweet little grammy" of JBW, Sandy was caring, thoughtful, had a great sense of humor, was generous with her wisdom, and always had an ear to listen or shoulder to lean on. She holds the record for longest employed Bean - almost 10 years!

Sandy loved to pull orders - for her tenure at JBW she pulled customer orders, all with a pep in her step and her great Sandy-tude! If you placed an order with us in the early days, it is likely that Sandy was the Bean that carefully selected your items, and delivered them to our packing/shipping team. Without knowing it, you might have a little piece of Sandy with you, too!

Though she is now gone, each Bean still holds a special place for Sandy in our hearts. She touched us all, and left a lasting impression that words can't adequately describe. Sandy was unique that way - it didn't matter who you were, where you came from, or what your story was - Sandy was your friend, through thick and thin.

To our sweet little grammy: We miss you so, and think of you often! We wish you a Happy Mother's Day and hope that you are enjoying yourself, surrounded by men in kilts, wherever you may be!

Thank you for joining us on Day 14 of Jimmy's Journey to 15! Be sure to join us again tomorrow for Day 15, the final day of our journey, where we'll highlight our 15th year in business along with a vendor that joined us along the way! And be sure to check out our Ravelry discussion thread and chime in with any comments you may have as we reminisce together about the last 15 years! You can also spread the word on social media using the hashtag #jimmysjourney15.

XOXO,

Jimmy & the Beans

Jimmy's Journey, Day 10 of 15: Madelinetosh

by :
Welcome to Day 10 of Jimmy's Journey to 15!

Have you heard about Jimmy's Journey to 15?! It's our 15th anniversary this year, and we will be sharing the story of JBW, year-by-year, here on our blog! Join us on the journey as we celebrate 15 years in business and highlight 15 partners in the yarn industry! Each day we'll kick off the blog post with a short clip of Jimmy (a.k.a. Laura) recounting one year of our history, while telling the story of a vendor who came along for the ride!

In this video, Jimmy chats about the move to our Capital Blvd. location, her trip to the White House, and about our first ever Madelinetosh Onesie shipment!

For your crafting pleasure, we have just received a HUGE shipment of Madelinetosh Onesies at 15% OFF!!! These mystery onesies have been sorted by yarn base and color group, rather than by color. This means that when you place your order for your selected yarn base, you won't know exactly which colorway you will receive in the mail! (We all enjoy a little bit of mystery in our lives, and we thought that you might too!) Colors have been grouped as follows: Blue/Green, Pink/Purple, Red/Orange/Yellow, Neutral, and Mega Mystery.

BONUS! To sweeten the pot, we'll also include a small free gift in every order placed during our 15 days of Jimmy’s Journey, as a token of our gratitude to all of our amazing customers out there!

In addition to the links above, we also have Onesies in the following bases: Tosh Chunky, BFL Sock, Pure Silk Lace, and Silk Merino.

What are 'onesies', you might ask? Onesies are one-of-a-kind skeins - no two skeins are exactly alike. A onesie is born when, for one reason or another, the skein did not meet the regular dye requirements for that particular colorway. Of course, the colors are still exceptional, the yarn is first quality, and they are deliciously squishy-soft as ever!

Wool Watcher Alert: Tosh is taking over!

Take a peek at our Wool Watcher page today - you never know which Madelinetosh favorites you will see, and have the opportunity to add to your stash!

Project Log: Oldies, but goodies!

We've completed our fair share of Tosh projects over the years - here are some of our favorites!

2011, Year 10 in Review!

When 2011 rolled around, JBW had the opportunity to expand into a much larger space (20,000 square feet, to be exact), and we jumped on it! This was our first year at our Capital Blvd. address, and we were able to "stretch our legs" a bit. More room in the warehouse, meant more room for yarn!

Around this same time, Jimmy was introduced to Amy, from Madelinetosh, by her friend, Ann Norling! Jimmy and Amy had dinner together one night, and she really enjoyed learning about Amy's family and background. Fun fact: Amy and her husband are a husband-wife team, just like Jimmy and Doug! Jimmy's favorite Tosh yarn is Tosh Merino Light in the color Composition Book Grey: "Isn't it everyone's favorite?!"

Thank you for joining us on Day 10 of Jimmy's Journey to 15! Be sure to join us again tomorrow for Day 11, where we'll highlight our 11th year in business along with a vendor that joined us along the way! And be sure to check out our Ravelry discussion thread and chime in with any comments you may have as we reminisce together about the last 15 years! You can also spread the word on social media using the hashtag #jimmysjourney15.

XOXO,

Jimmy & the Beans
