Lorna's Laces Limited Edition....

Due to the overwhelming response to our LE Anniversary Color Contest
(wherein 2 different colors will "win" a permanent place
in our exclusive line of Lorna's Laces yarns), we
have closed the first contest and are now launching the survey in a new

We're excited that this new format will ensure a fair vote while allowing
you to vote for more than one color. The contest also now includes ALL of
the formerly released favorites from the LE line.

So please vote----and vote for as many colors as you'd like. You're only
allowed to vote once, however, so make sure your vote is a good one and
may the best colors win!!

Thanks so much to all those that had previously voted and we hope you'll
take the time to vote again.

Traveling Amber...

Amber come home!! I have mentioned here and there that Amber has been at Muench Yarns helping out and having fun! Now I know it's not a traveling sweater, but a traveling Amber is a good substitute don't you think?

She will be blogging about all of it, but I thought I might put in my 2 cents worth. She has been merciless in her teasing the last week and has been telling me how soft something is, or amazing colors, or I am bringing you a Llama, sheesh what a stinker! I know she won't bring me a Llama, but I was so excited that my dog would have a new playmate :)

So one of the new yarns she is gaga about is the Seta Nova which has Mulberry silk in it and I have touched Mulberry silk and yum, yum, yum!! I can't wait to see this and cast on, oh yeah didn't I just blog about too many WIP's in my life, but you can see how it happens cant' you?

Ok so back on track here and to the right is a swatch of color No. 9 and I want to know that stitch pattern, anyone?? At any rate she should be back in the shop on Monday and will hopefully have a detailed blog for you soon!

Learn something new today...

I really love to learn new things and certainly when it comes to my favorite sport, knitting! Here is a little ditty we did on how to cable. I hope you like it!

I am personally fond of the Clover Cable Stitch Holders, but have been known to use a toothpick when there is a cabling crisis!

Let me know what you think, as I am getting ready to film and if you have any ideas for me I would love to hear about them!

Yarn bombing...

This is a real quick post to share with you a link from Vogue Knitting about this awesome little yarn bomb! If you haven't heard yarn bombing is a new form of graffiti called knitffiti, or in this case crochetffiti! We have some yarn bombers here in Reno who are very subversive in their tagging of items around town!

Now this instance looks to me more like an intentional car cozy project, but it is so awesome I just had to share!

To finish or not to finish, that is the question...

I have been having a hard time finishing some of my WIP's (works in progress) and well I have some patterns that I have deadlines on, ummm come on Jeanne!! I finally sat down and did a basic list of my WIP's and came up with 15 so far and I say so far because I remembered one that I had left off the list, so I am pretty sure that as I get more and more honest with myself I will have to add to the list.

1 & 2. I have 2 TOP SECRET projects that are at the top of the list, so if I tell you about them I will have to kill you, ha ha!

3. I have my Shoal Water Shawl which if I would just suck it up and move along is really close. Blush the project log isn't up to date (that's my job) in this picture as I am a bit further.

4. My China Vest from Folk Vests...again really great progress! This one isn't even on the project log ugh!

5. A pair of my Bubble Socks out of Lorna's Laces sport weight for my daughter. This one isn't on the log yet, but in my defense I have modified the pattern, so have been reluctant to put it up. I know, I know that's a weak defense, but it's the best I've got!

6. My Knitting Pure and Simple sweater #294...which is even further along than in this project log post.

7. I have started (well am really on the second half of) the Dawn shawl from the book by Grace Ann Farrow, The fine Line, out of Isager Wool 1. This one isn't on the log yet and I shall have to remedy that ASAP!!!

8. I am making the Court House Steps blanket/throw from Mason Dixon Knitting out of some discontinued stash yarn by Rowan. This one isn't on the log because I am using a discontinued yarn, but I will put it on for you anyway.

9. My Rowan Shetland Cardigan out of Rowan Felted Tweed Aran.

10. My Fiddlehead Mittens which really haven't moved too far since I posted them.

11. Another Cosette Wrap out of Amber's First Kitchen in the Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted (not on the project log sheesh!)

12. Another 2 Askew Designs pattern that I can't talk about yet...

13. Repeat line 12 here ha ha!

14. Three Sister Scarf #3 out of Hand Maiden Sea Silk. Phew this one is up to date on the log, b ig sigh of relief!!

15. My Lace Ribbon Scarf which is (thankfully up to date on the project log) and I am using Amber's 1st Kitchen in the Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport weight.

So I guess I am using this forum as an WIP intervention for Jeanne HELP!! I am a great starter, but need to finish some of this stuff!

As you may know, Sandy and I are great pals and she has encouraged me with her WIP list to get a little more organized, but what is a knitter to do when there are so many great projects to work on? I do eventually finish some stuff, but have a lot that is unfinished as you can see by my overwhelming list! When I talk to you most of you are in a similar boat (maybe not quite so much water sinking your boat), but so many of you only work on one project at a time. HOW DO YOU DO IT?? I am so easily distracted by all the ideas that I feel like a Magpie chasing all the shinny things for my nest. I chase all the beautiful yarns and patterns for my knitting nest.

Well I guess I better get my needles clicking on one of these things, so for now as always happy knitting and crocheting!

Have you voted yet?

I know it's not November, but have you voted yet?? It's looking like a close heat with Peppermint Mocha in the lead and Trick or Treat running a very close second.

We are adding 2 more permanent colors from our Limited Edition Lorna's Laces colors and as you may have heard Twilight (left) was the first to join the lineup.

Now I know I should be posting the 3rd Traveling Sweater, but alas so much has been going on that I just haven't had time to get that moving for you and I hope you will forgive me. So stay tuned, same knitting channel for more on the sweaters...

As for the voting, well vote (to the right) please we want to know what you think!! Have a great weekend and as always, happy knitting and crocheting! Jeanne

The traveling sweater #2 FINAL!!

Ok so here we are and have you been paying attention?

1. How old is Sandy?

2. What book did I buy after reviewing that centers around Alice in Wonderland?

3. Where can you find the wool on the site that goes with the Book The fine Line?

4. What new yarn did we get that has hemp in it and where can you find it on the site?

5. Where can you find the yarn that I was building the cubes to store on the site?

6. Where can you fine the new circular needles I am in love with?

Email your answers to and good luck!! I had someone lust after the sweater just yesterday, so first one to the finish line wins!!

The game is a foot! Jeanne
