It's hot! What do you work on when it's hot?

It is finally hot here in Reno and so as I mentioned the other day I grabbed some of the new Hempathy and worked up a quick beret.

I am in LOVE with this yarn and want to get going on something bigger like a tank, or a vest.

This yarn is super special and it will be cool and drape nicely, so what's not to love.

Now if you want to know the pattern (which is why I debated on posting this) I haven't written it up yet, but will and am going to see who will want to test knit it for me until then happy knitting and crocheting! Jeanne

The traveling sweater....#2

Here we are at the last post before the list of questions for this sweater so good luck to you all!

We have had tons and tons going on around the shop and last Wednesday was Sandy's birthday and we had sooooooo much fun teasing, singing, eating cake AND watching her enjoy her singing telegram that came to entertain her! WOW was it a blast and she loved it too!

The sweater was hanging around enjoying the show too! Ha ha!

As usual it was a busy day, but we ALL had so much fun around the shop that day! As you may know (or even experienced if you are lucky ha ha) Sandy and I love to sing and dance at the drop of hat around the shop and boy we were in rare form for her birthday.

This is a good chance to introduce you to Muni on the far right of the group picture with the pretty pink sweater. Welcome Muni who is now Doug's HTML assistant and she is fitting right into the group!

As you can see Sandy turned 6 and has been using that fact to get into trouble ever since! The cuties behind her are Victoria's GREAT kids and they enjoyed Terry's home made cake as much as the rest of us, yummmmmyyyy!!!

We got the Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy into the shop and guess who took some home last night in color 28 Blue Pine Green?? Well if you guessed little old me you got it!!

This yarn is AMAZING and I have already cast on a beret to help me with 'helmet head' which afflicts many a motorcyclist. Now that I am older than Sandy (ha ha) I can tell her what to do and boy am I going to push her to work with this yarn, cause she is going to love it!

Well this may seem a little light on clues and hints, but don't kid yourself you may want to read it again just to be sure you got it all!! HA HA HA!

I hope you all have a great weekend and as always happy knitting and crocheting!

The traveling sweater....#2

Well I hope you all are having a great week and here we are at Friday, YEAH! The Traveling Sweater didn't get to travel much this week since have we have been really busy!! So maybe I should change the name to the stay at home sweater?? Ha ha!!

I wanted to take the sweater to visit the famous Reno arch, but just couldn't find the time. Imagine the sweater being held up there at the base of the arch and waving at you!

I am born and raised here in Reno and a native Nevadan is considered to be a rare bird for sure. Nevada is full of people from everywhere else, but here I am a rare bird indeed in more ways than one; just ask any of the little beans ha ha.

So we were piled to the ceiling with boxes most of this last week and I even got into the organization in the back, phew!! We have added a whole bunch of new Berroco yarns to our inventory and we haven't even had a chance to get them up on the site, so you know things are nuts! Stay tuned on that one, as you know I will keep you posted! It will certainly be worth the wait!

This is how we were living for quite a while and we had to turn sideways to get through that little space, wow!

Here Sandy is looking like her cute sassy self in one of the isles that was so packed it was every little bean for themselves moving around in that area. Laura and Sandy got after this area the other day and it is so nice now! Boy you two are organizing devils!

So on top of all this craziness we did some filming yesterday and I reviewed the Legacy Lace by Brown Sheep, yummy! I can't wait to work with this yarn!

I also reviewed some books (2 of which I bought after getting a good look imagine) one was Louisa Harding's Queen of Hearts and Knitter's Magazine Think Outside the Sox. I spent last night in reading heaven and am thrilled that I decided to add these 2 books to my library!

You all keep me so busy that sometimes the only time I really get to stop and take a good look is when we are filming, so yeah for filming! I had glanced at both of the books in passing, but once I dove into them I just had to have them.

Well that is it for now and as always I wish you happy knitting and crocheting!

Lana Grossa needles...WOW!

I am in love yet again with another product imagine?? We have the Lana Grossa needles in the shop and of course I had to buy them, dang Laura what are you doing to me? I picked up 3 sets of double points and 1 circular I am so in love I just had to share with you.

The double points are sooooooo smooth and they have amazing points. They are a joy to work with and I will be casting on with the circulars to do the magic loop soon, so will let you know what I think of those.

I can say that the joins and the cable feel smooth and flexible, so I think they will be perfect.

They are so beautiful with all the colors and we have the circulars in chrome too, so I guess I will have to give those a try too...sigh...

As always happy knitting and crocheting!

The traveling sweater....#2

Wow tons of stuff is going on around here and we are literally stacked up with boxes upon boxes of yarn, WOW!!! I can't keep up and even asked Sandy if she knew about a certain something yesterday and she said she didn't have a clue. Sandy is my go to liason for questions like that becaue she helps unpack everything and knows what's what in all those boxes, so now it's like opening a present every time we tear into one, YEAH!!

One of you out there heard we were having a hectic day the other day and sent Amber flowers!!! Amazing is all I can say on that one and they are beautiful too, so we have all been enjoying them. Thanks for making Amber's day and ours too!!

As you can see I have still been pestering everyone with my camera and here is Leanne (who is an extra small) in the Flared Sleeve Pullover which is the current contest sweater. She looks so cute in it don't you think? I just love the color Lakeview from Lorna's Laces yarn and I am sorry to see the Swirl DK and Swirl Chunky discontinued, but this sweater pattern would work up in lots of other beautiful DK weight yarns.

Here is a search result that I got using our advanced search option (I searched by gauge for all DK weight yarns) in our yarn section of the site. If you are unfamiliar with our advanced search tool check it out, as you can search for things based on all kinds of different criteria. The other sections of the site have advanced search tools too, so don't be afraid to play and see what comes up for you.

Now yesterday I popped by the shop to do a couple of little things in the front and was pressed into duty in the back (I never mind though because I always get to play) and I helped with some organization.

Amber (that little stinker) turned my own camera on me and here I am building cubes for her to store the Schulana Super Cotton yarn and the the Zitron Loft color yarn.

I also got to move the new Lana Grossa Designer Wood needles and well I bought a set of DPN's and circulars in the wood! WOW I have already cast on with the DPN's and all I can say is these needles are fabulous!!

They are really smooth and the points are really great!! I bought a second set today when I stopped by and can see that I am hopelessly in love!

Stay tuned for more hints on The Traveling Sweater #2, as I am thinking of taking it on field trip around Reno, as it has only traveled around the shop so far, ha ha!

Have a great weekend and as always happy knitting and crocheting!

PS We had a really special visitor stop by the shop yesterday and I thought you might like to see our littlest bean, Huck!! He just had his first birthday on the 28th of May and of course was mobbed by admirers when he popped in!!

I am hopelessly in love with this little guy, as are all the other beans!!

We are teaming up with Misti Alpaca and are working on the new Landscape line of colors in the Misti Alpaca Hand Paint Chunky yarn, yummy!!! There will be 12 (EXCLUSIVE to JBW) colorways and the exposure for designers is going to be fantastic!! I have seen the colors and they are phenomenal and I can't wait to get my hands on any one of them, so jump on board with your needles and hooks let's stitch it up!

As always happy knitting and crocheting! Jeanne

The traveling sweater....#2

Things are jumping around the shop these days what with the Wool Watcher (our newest little bean) and many, many shipments of new yarns and what not, phew!!

I am finally back in town after being gone helping out with family stuff for what seemed like a life time and it is so neat to be back in the shop! Thanks to all of you for asking where I was and for making it a point to stop by and say hi once you knew I was back.

We have so many new things coming your way that I just don't know where to start, but I really want to mention the Isager Wool 1 yarn that is complimented by the book The Fine Line by Grace Ann Farrow, WOW!

Sandy got the book at Stitches West and I have been drooling over it ever since, so when we added it to our inventory along with the yarn, well I am one happy little knitter! I think I want to work up the Volt wrap from the book and that's the one that Sandy is going to do too, hmmmm, am I a copy cat? Who cares it's beautiful!
I popped into the shop yesterday to take some pictures of the second sweater in The Traveling Sweater contest and Amber put it on for me and made hint suggestions too, oh Amber you are so funny!

Her name has been used on our Lorna's Laces Limited Edition colors and one of them she even went to Chicago and helped to dye the color, wow, what a lucky duck!!

Just a quick note this sweater fits Amber and she says shes a basic medium size off the rack. The yarn (Lorna's Laces Swirl DK) is discontinued :( but we do have the pattern for the Flared Sleeve Pullover from Lorna's Laces.

So that's it for now have a great week and as always happy knitting and crocheting!

Let's knit in public!!

World wide knit in public day is this month and I am stoked. We can come into the light so to speak, ha ha! Now I don't know about you, but I knit in public on a regular basis, but this is a such a fun thing to do. Knowing knitter's from around the world are all doing it in droves everywhere and anywhere is awesome!!

I think I need a new project to work on for this event and when and where will you knit in public??

As always happy knitting and crocheting!
