Wow tons of stuff is going on around here and we are literally stacked up with boxes upon boxes of yarn, WOW!!! I can't keep up and even asked Sandy if she knew about a certain something yesterday and she said she didn't have a clue. Sandy is my go to liason for questions like that becaue she helps unpack everything and knows what's what in all those boxes, so now it's like opening a present every time we tear into one, YEAH!!


One of you out there heard we were having a hectic day the other day and sent Amber flowers!!! Amazing is all I can say on that one and they are beautiful too, so we have all been enjoying them. Thanks for making Amber's day and ours too!!


As you can see I have still been pestering everyone with my camera and here is Leanne (who is an extra small) in the Flared Sleeve Pullover which is the current contest sweater. She looks so cute in it don't you think? I just love the color Lakeview from Lorna's Laces yarn and I am sorry to see the Swirl DK and Swirl Chunky discontinued, but this sweater pattern would work up in lots of other beautiful DK weight yarns.

Now yesterday I popped by the shop to do a couple of little things in the front and was pressed into duty in the back (I never mind though because I always get to play) and I helped with some organization.

Amber (that little stinker) turned my own camera on me and here I am building cubes for her to store the Schulana Super Cotton yarn and the the Zitron Loft color yarn.

I also got to move the new Lana Grossa Designer Wood needles and well I bought a set of DPN's and circulars in the wood! WOW I have already cast on with the DPN's and all I can say is these needles are fabulous!!

They are really smooth and the points are really great!! I bought a second set today when I stopped by and can see that I am hopelessly in love!

Stay tuned for more hints on The Traveling Sweater #2, as I am thinking of taking it on field trip around Reno, as it has only traveled around the shop so far, ha ha!

PS We had a really special visitor stop by the shop yesterday and I thought you might like to see our littlest bean, Huck!! He just had his first birthday on the 28th of May and of course was mobbed by admirers when he popped in!!

I am hopelessly in love with this little guy, as are all the other beans!!

I am stoked!!! I am going on a road trip with my Road King motorcycle, Pandora! My honey and I are taking our bikes (as some of you know I am totally into my bike) to Death Valley tomorrow to try to get some warmth and let the bikes stretch their wheels.

So we were all talking this afternoon about blogging (you are all going to be sooooo excited to see what's coming your way) and I have been holding onto some GREAT samples that are going to be given away one at a time here on this very blog.

Now you will have to work for them and we will be giving one away every month until they have found new loving homes and the first one is this beautiful single button cardigan worked up in Lorna's Laces Swirl Chunky.

The pattern is the Georgie Jacket and the color is Blackberry and it is soooooo scrumptious!!

This is how it's going to work, I am going to take pictures of this sweater in various places on my trip next week and I am going to post about it over the next 3-4 weeks AND you will need to pay close attention to the blog (all posts not just mine) because you will need to be able to answer a series of questions that will be in the very last post (I am not going to make them easy either hee hee) and the first person to email me all the right answers get's the sweater for their very own.

This is the first picture of The traveling sweater resting on my 2008 Road King Classic, Pandora. The name comes from Greek mythology and means giver of all and I would love to have a Road Queen name plate fashioned for my bike, but for now I am a princess who rides a Road King, ha ha! Pandora was supposed to be the first woman (according to Greek myth) and you can read a bit more about her on Wikipedia.

Well as Amerique said we had a special Beans only knit afternoon at the shop on Sunday and boy was it fun!!! Greg is now officially a knitter as is Jen his great girlfriend!

Shevawn is now knitting (a refresher course) a cowl out of the Lorna's Laces Swirl Chunky and she remembered her first knitting lesson and was off and running with very little coaching from yours truly.

It was fun to see how many different ways there are to teach the same technique, as I do my long tail cast on differently than Sandy and was able to help Greg with his stitches, but Sandy had to coach him on the cast on, as she had initially taught him and I was lost.

Then Terry said I wonder how many ways there are to cast on and I counted up 9, but I know that there are probably many more and it's just gets me excited knowing that there is so much to learn and one will never know all there is about knitting. I don't think I could ever get bored with this art knowing there is something new to learn around every stitch.

I don't know about you, but I love to learn something new and if you haven't checked out our instructional section of the site I hope you will. We have put together articles and videos to help you learn new things, so if you ever have something you want us to teach you just let us know and we will put it on the list.

It was fun getting to know some of our newest beans like Sharon who was crocheting like a fiend. The hook was on fire and clearly she is the one to go to for crochet questions. She is using Tahki Cotton Classic to crochet some coasters and they are going to be awesome!

Here is Amerique's cat bed that she mentioned in her post and I can't wait to see a picture of Tin Tin sleeping in it!

All in all a good time was had by all and these little beans got to do what we love to do best, knit & crochet!
