A cozy start to the New Year - the Malabrigo Trunk Show

Yummy Malabrigo, how do we love thee!!!

What a way to start the New Year! We are up to our (very warm) ears in lovely, soft, delicious Malabrigo knit items from all seven Malabrigo books!!! We have so many that we are having a hard time finding room to display them all!

Here are just few of the samples from each of the books.  Every item is knit up in one Malabrigo yarn or another.  There's just too much to list them all!

From Malabrigo Book One the hat and scarf are Ansina, the sweater with holes is Rocha, & the tunic is Melo.

This cute little dress  is Carrasco and the jacket is Cerro.  Both are found in Malabrigo Book 2.

Malabrigo book 3 has patterns for the Lakesdale shawl and the Purl Ridge Hat along with several other designs by Stephen West! There are gorgeous women's sweaters too from other top designers!

Malabrigo book 4 is another treat for the eyes with the lovely cover convertible wrap Enrejado in Silky Merino and the sumptuous cardigans - Antiguo in Baby Merino Lace and Lineal in Rasta.

Tons of fun scarves and cowls can be found in Malabrigo book 5 in Soho! Pictured here are Hester, Broome, & Crosby.

Malabrigo book 6 in Cabo Polonio is full of rich colored accessories! Pictured here are Angelito, Barcos, & CaƱada cowls with the Trigo hat.

And finally, Malabrigo book 7 Rasta in Brooklyn full of fresh, trendy, super chunky knits all worked up in the beautiful colors of Malabrigo Rasta! Pictured are Carroll Gardens, The Heights, Sunset Park, & the Bushwick hat.

If you have the chance, please do stop by the shop as these wonderful knits are a real treat to see!  They will be here until January 8th.

Remember all that lovely Rowan Fine Art Sock yarn you bought?

We now have the Rowan Fine Art Sock trunk show in the shop!  This beautiful display of knit & crocheted garments shows off many of the designs from the two companion books for Rowan Fine Art Sock - Rowan Fine Art Collection & Rowan Fine Art Accessories Collection! This is a fantastic yarn for socks and more!  It's a shiny, strong and super durable blend of 45% Merino Wool, 25% Polyamide, 20% Kid Mohair, 10% Silk, hand dyed in amazing colors! Most of the colorways even compliment each other!  Take a look at some of the great patterns designed especially for this yarn!

Looking for a lovely last minute gift for a knitter or crocheter?  We also have the Rowan Fine Art Towers already to go!

Such a lovely group of ladies all wrapped up in scarves and mitts from these collections!

The Secoto wrist warmers knit up in color 310 Maple will keep your wrists & hands toasty warm with fun baubles, traveling stitches, and lace.

Stay snug and comfortable in Baines, a crocheted wrap that crosses in the front and ties in the back.  This one is worked up in color 311 Hornbeam. The pattern is in Fine Art Accessories Collection.

Wearing snowflakes!  That's how you'll feel wearing crocheted Bhengu, an artistic scarf created with large and small motif's interconnected making it a very portable project!  This one is worked up in the neutral color 309 Elm. Another pattern found in Fine Art Accessories Collection.

This stunning piece is the Lark Scarf in Fine Art Collection! The design used 4 hanks of Fine Art in color 307 Pheasant in a wave pattern with purl ridges defining the waves. We love the way the colors pool!

Wow!  Look how stunning 303 Waxwing looks in the lacy Starling Wrap found in the Fine Art Collection.

The Fine Art Collection contains 10 fabulous sock patterns! With so many different styles it will be tough deciding which to knit first!

Terry just loves 306 Lapwing! Look how beautifully it stripes in the Goose socks and the Falcon Scarf! The Goose pattern even has instructions for both ankle socks and knee socks!

If you have a hankering to try out a little bit of color work then the Grouse socks are just the ticket! The lovely snowflake motif is worked in a combination of intarsia and fair isle and the heel is worked in short-rows. This pair was made with 304 Raven as the main color and 302 Tawny for the pattern.

The Ibis stockings stripe 3 colors all the above the knee for a fun and funky look! This pair was made with Lapwing, Pheasant and Waxwing!

Perhaps you're more in the mood for thick, slouchy cabled sock?  Then the Cuckoo pattern is for you! Two strands of Tawny were held together for this highly textured sock.

Snipe is a great sock pattern for either a man or a woman.  Shown here worked up in Kingfisher.  This sock features ribbing with a traveling stitch that forms a little cable each time it meets a rib.

So if you can, stop by and take a look while the trunk show is here! If you can't come into the shop, please let us know if you have any questions about this yarn, these projects, or anything else!

On the 12th Day of Yarn-mas, Jimmy got for me, Twelve Drummers Drumming from Yarn Carnival!!!!

The Drumline has arrived, and boy are they talented!!!

Yarn Carnival is a company in Austin, TX that is as fun as it sounds, with bright and saturated colors that perform on a High Wire or swallow fire- they've got one exciting show that we just couldn't miss!!!

Laura met the amazingly "spiffy and beautiful hand dyed yarn company" at Hill Country Weavers and thought they were a perfect fit for our zany crew at JBW, and the brainstorming and scheming to get their yarn at our shop began!!!

Make sure to check out the final verse to our Yarn-mas carol!!!!

And get on over to the Yarn Carnival- there's a funnel cake with my name on it and I know I want a front row seat for the High Wire act!!!

Happy Yarn-mas Everyone!!!

On the Eleventh Day of Yarn-mas, Jimmy got for me, Eleven Pipers Piping from solstice yarn!!!!

This solstice yarn Luna Sock may be the Pied Piper of Pipers Piping, because I would follow this yarn anywhere!!!

Rachel and I had the opportunity to meet the owner (and family) of the Dublin Bay Knitting Co. and solstice yarn at Vogue Knitting Live Seattle 2014, and we fell in love with their super soft and luxurious fibers- as well as their welcoming and kind spirit!!!

From Tricia of solstice yarn:

"solstice yarn was founded in 2007 by Dublin Bay Knitting Company Owner, Tricia Maynard. Longing for more subtle colorways in hand dyed yarns, Tricia set out to create her own, and solstice was born. Since its official debut December 21, 2009, solstice has grown to ten yarns with two more in development for 2014/15.

The colorway I created for Yarn-mas is a mix of deep blues and greys because "11 Pipers Piping" reminded me of the Scottish Highlands and the muted tones of the Scottish sky during winter that are reflected in the tartans of that region."
solstice yarn was born out of a want and need for subtly colored hand-dyes, and they achieve this time and time again in all of their luxurious bases!!!

We are so happy solstice yarn said yes to Yarn-mas- make sure to check out the latest verse in our Carol!!!!

Stay tuned for the last of our 12 yarns tomorrow!!!

Happy happy Yarn-mas!!!

Never Not Knitting AND Kelbourne Woolens Baby Collection Trunk Shows now in the shop!!!

It was love at first sight when we first received Never Not Knitting patterns by Alana Dakos several years ago!  Her thoughtfully designed, classic styles for women & children are elegant and universally appealing. The printed patterns are lovely to look at and well written.  We've had Coastal knits trunk shows in the past but this is the first time we've had a Never Not Knitting trunk show!

Stop by the shop if you can and take a look!  And yes, they are as soft to touch as they look!

Katlyn looks so sunny and warm in this Cedar Leaf Shawlette!  This one is knit up in Malabrigo Silky Merino in color 405 - Sand.

Erika & JenA are snug and warm in these lofty hats, Winter Trails in Malabrigo Worsted and Cloudy Days in Blue Sky Alpaca Sportweight!

Jenny just loves the Cream & Sugar Cowl in Malabrigo Sock and the Plum Tree Slouch hat.  She will stay plenty warm out in the warehouse in this pair!

Terry has had the Shawl Collared Cowl pattern and the Misti Alpaca Chunky in her stash for a while now and thinks she needs to get on the ball and get it worked up!

This adorable little girl's sweater is called Sheepish! Wouldn't it make a wonderful gift for that special little someone?

Last but not least is this adorable little shrug called Chloe knit up in Spud & Chloe Sweater

The other trunk show currently in the shop is Kelbourne Woolens Baby Collection. We have so many wonderful garments in the shop you're sure to find lots of ideas for all those babies that have been cropping up everywhere! The sizes range from newborn to 24 months.

The entire Kelbourne Baby Collections is knit up in yarns from The Fibre Company!  So soft!!!

These adorable vests are Harold (on the left) knit up in Tundra and Mildred (on the right) worked in Terra

This is Colette knit up in Road to China Light!

Clarence are fun little hand warmers and Florence is a pretty set of hat and booties both knit up in Canopy (which we don't currently carry).

Cecile knit up in Terra & Beatrix in Acadia are two of the most adorable sweaters!

That lovely blanket in the back ground is Basil in Canopy.  The diaper covers are called Darling and the onesie is Nellie.

We hope to see you in the shop but if you can't make it in just let us know any questions you have.

Leaping lizards, this yarn is to dye for!!!!

A very zen company, Zen Yarn Garden is one that we've been known to covet- whether at yarn shows or online- their yarn's color and feel will put you in a very peaceful place!!!

After some serious encouragement from Rachel and Kristen, from their encounters with these blissful fibers and wonderful creators- we are so beyond excited to be able to showcase Zen Yarn Garden and their Ten Lords-a-Leaping even if for only a brief moment!!!!

Make sure to check out our latest Yarn-mas verse (maybe our singing will help you reach nirvana? wink, wink)!!!!

On the Ninth Day of Yarn-mas, Jimmy got for me, 80s Dance Mix from Holiday Yarns!!!

What ladies don't love a good 80s Dance Mix?!?!

Well, Holiday Yarns Dye Studio knows this fact about all ladies dancing (especially nine ladies dancing), and created a dance party in their Flock Sock 80s Dance Mix for us #justatjimmys!!!

Holiday Yarns are just as fun and festive as they sound, with their super saturated and sassy colors noone can resist feeling the spirit of the season- all year long!!!

We were lucky enough to hear amazing things about their yarns this Summer and fell in love with them at first sight, so we began working on any scenario we could to get them at Jimmy Beans Wool!!!

Make sure to check out the latest Yarn-mas Carol verse, and stay tuned for the next three days of festive fibers!!!!

Have a very Merry Yarn-mas!!! ~Olivia
