JBW: Tell us a little about Touch Me.
Kirstin: Touch me was inspired by an old friend of the Muench Family, and actually helped develop the yarn in Italy in 1989-1990…..we have been selling Touch Me since 1991 and we don't see that stopping any time soon!
JBW:What is it about Touch Me that you think appeals to so many people?
Kirstin:The softness, and richness of color, its like velvet, and every girl loves velvet!
Kirstin: Lisa Daniels of Lafayette California designed this beauty! She owns a LYS and has lots of ladies coming in wanting to knit chemo caps….well having way too much experience with Chemo, she knew that Chemo leaves the scalp hurting an awful lot once the hair has fallen out, so she wanted to knit a cap that would lay softly on the head and not bind too much, well not only did she achieve that, it’s a wonderful fashion Item as well. Chemo or no Chemo it’s a darn adorable hat! (Pictured here in color #3610)
In honor of the 20 year anniversary, we have put together a SWEET Touch Me giveaway for all of you loyal readers! We are giving away a Slouchy Hat Kit! Kirstin: Touch me has been around such a long time, it’s a funny thing….some customers say oh, I’m done with that yarn when they get bored with something, but not Touch me! We sell it consistently all year long and we sell it well! Because it’s sold so well, lots of ideas are generated by shops, designers and the public, it’s really exciting! I love Touch Me! I've made a scarf with it and it is so wonderfully soft. I would love to make the hat! Debbie H
ReplyDeleteMuench yarn is indeed velvety soft and it comes in purple! What more can you ask from a yarn. No matter what the color, I'd love to win some of this yarn
ReplyDeleteI made a small "snuggly" with this yarn for my grandaughter almost 6 years ago. She has slept with it every night!! It has held up wonderfully after many, many washes. Thanks for such a soft and snuggly yarn!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I'm not familiar with Touch Me Yarn but the description of "why it appeals" in this interview makes me really, really want to try it!!
ReplyDeleteI have not tried Touch Me yarn but would love the chance to try it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm another one of the people who hasn't tried Touch Me yet but I certainly don't want to disappoint with its demands to touch it. :) With the upcoming Chicago winter it seems lovely... last year I got snowed into work for 16 hours and could have used this, doh!
ReplyDeleteBoth the name of this yarn and the feel of it make my fingers wiggle with excitement!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know this yarn was still available. I made a deliciously soft scarf. I love its softness.
ReplyDeleteThis yarn is so silky soft. I made a scarf for my sister and recently bought more to make one for myself. It also has beautiful colors. Would love to make something else in this yummy yarn.
ReplyDeleteI've coveted this yarn since I bought only one skein several years ago. It's the softest yarn in the world! I sure hope I win the kit!
ReplyDeleteI love the feel of this yarn! It feels luxurious to knit with, and to wear, and comes in gorgeous colors that almost seem to glow.
ReplyDeleteI have to confess I have not used this yarn, but I have made many, many chemo caps, and unfortunately the demand for them never stops. I would love to try out this yarn and pattern for the people who ask me to make caps for themselves or their loved ones.
ReplyDeleteI have not tried Touch Me yarn but it sounds dreamy.
ReplyDeleteI am dying to make this hat in the steel blue color! I just love the way the yarn changes colors as it moves!
ReplyDeleteOh, it's fells so mice and looks so luxurious!
ReplyDeleteI love Touch Me because it looks and feels so elegant and luxurious.
ReplyDeleteTouch Me looks so luxurious and soft and I love the cap. I haven't used the yarn yet but would be grateful for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I've heard so many things about Touch Me, but have never been able to justify it in my budget. Fingers tightly crossed!!!
ReplyDeleteI have never knit with "Touch Me" but have felt it. Would love to make a cowl for the Nevada winter out of it. Can only imagine how warm and snuggly it will feel and love the stitch definition. Can't wait to try it!
ReplyDeleteI love this yarn--the colors are intense and fabulous. I'd love to have a hat made out of this!
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for anything velvety, which is why I love Touch Me!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I've never yet knit with Touch Me, I would definitely love to give it a try. I make hats all the time and would love to knit up one of the slouch hats. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI have petted a skein of Touch Me in a LYS and it feels so soft and cuddly. The colors are vibrant and rich. I would be over-joyed if I won this give-a-way!
ReplyDeleteI love the slouchy hat!
ReplyDeleteI love the deep jewel-like colors. That's what gets me every time. Nice to know the yarn is sticking around!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried it but it sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have not actually knit with Touch Me yet, but have admired it at my LYS and love how soft it is!
ReplyDeleteTouch Me is snuggly soft. I can't resist petting it like it's a pocket pet.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had the chance to use Touch Me, but I would love the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteThe feel, the texture, the colors... What's not to love? I know I'm seriously in love...
ReplyDeleteTouch Me is so soft, and the colors so rich you might think that was enough. It doesn't stop there! I love its delicious silky drape. Thanks for making this!
ReplyDeleteWould love to receive the Touch ME Hat kit. It gets cold in Atlanta during the winter. thank you
ReplyDeleteI would love to win the Slouchy Hat Kit. My nieces 21 yr old daughter just this past weekend asked if i would knit her a slouchy hat. Would love to make this for her. Thanks for the chance of winning it.
ReplyDeleteI would love Touch Me by Muench because the texture appears unique and the sheen it gives is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe feel, of course! I made a scarf several years ago with it and it is the most elegant item I've ever made. It's a "novelty yarn" that is here to stay!
ReplyDeleteI have some Touch Me in my stash. It feels fabulous. Would love some more... :)
ReplyDeleteI am a tactile knitter. If it doesn't feel good, why spend hours touching it, let alone wearing it! What a beautiful combination this yarn is - eye and finger candy :) In addition, my sister passed away from cancer so chemo caps are near and dear to my heart.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to try out this yarn! Pick me!
ReplyDeleteHow can you not love Touch Me? It's so soft and shimmery...so delightful to both hand and eye. The colors are rich and sumptuous. I've fondled balls of Touch Me in stores and gazed longingly at the Touch Me scarf in Scarf Style but it's just a little too expensive for me to have tried it. One day maybe...
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started kniting, I saw a pattern in Sally Melville's book, "The Knit Stitch" that used this yarn. The way she described it, I had to try it. The yarn was the richest royal purple shade I could find and even with my basic knitting skill looked wonderful. I cannot wait for the weather to get cool enough to wear it because it is so soft and warm and snuggly on my neck. A hat made of this yarn would be nearly sinful.
ReplyDeleteI love the way Touch Me felts - I made a scarf out of it and it feels so lovely and soft and squishy. I'd love to make a lovely hat too!
ReplyDeleteJust read your comments about Touch Me and went to my local yarn store to check it out. Yummy! I have a friend who was just diagnosed with breast cancer and will be undergoing chemo so making her a hat with this terrific yarn will be great. It is so hard to do "something" for friends who have life altering medical conditions and since she lives about 400 miles away it will be a little "something" that I can do for her from afar. Thanks for the tip on this wonderful yarn
ReplyDeleteI love the velvety feel of this yarn and the beautiful rich colors, especially the purple. The name says it all!
ReplyDeleteI love this yarn; I've made a scarf for a friend out of it and she loves it.
ReplyDeleteI love Touch Me because it's wonderfully soft.
ReplyDeleteI love this yarn. I have a scarf that I made years ago and it is soft as ever. I would like to make a hat to match.
ReplyDeleteI love how gorgeous Touch Me gets after felting!
ReplyDeleteOoooh ... I haven't tried the Touch Me yarn yet, but would LOVE the chance to do so! The hat is exactly what I've been looking for as a fall project. The Touch Me yarn looks wonderful ... will order some soon for scarf project!
ReplyDeleteI've not had a chance to knit with Touch Me yet, but I'm definitely going to get me some after seeing the comments on it! Love to use it for a chemo chap, or shrug for our local women's shelter!
ReplyDelete"Touch Me" is like melted butter and maple syrup or milk chocolate and warm caramel on your fingertips...
ReplyDeleteThe colorways have strong voices that bring both the eye and hand to them.
It is perfection...
Touch Me is a heavenly yarn. I would be happy to have some just to pet. It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTouch Me is so soft and the colors are so rich and jewel-like. I have some that i just keep around to pet.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see this. I adore Touch Me and have made a number of scarves, but never thought of using it for a hat. I have some in my stash and this is inspiring. The yarn creates an amazingly sensuous fabric and the jewel toned colors are extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteMy first exposure to Muench Touch Me was the "Lucile pullover" in Sally Melville's classic The Knitting Experience Book 2: The Purl Stitch... and at my LYS. Thanks for the opportunity to win some of this great yarn, fab pattern & fun needles!
ReplyDeleteMust. Win. Fingers longing for "Touch Me" experience.
ReplyDeleteYay! A chance to work more with this fabulous yarn!!!! I'm excited!
ReplyDeleteI am yet another of the ones who hasn't gotten to experience this yarn, but that Red Velvet at the top caught my eye - Red is one of my uniform colors at work and I could totally get away wearing this beanie in that red at work, which would be glorious!
ReplyDeleteTouch Me makes great hatbands; it's so much nicer than having itchy wool stretched across my forehead and ears!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all JBW rocks my socks! I have never tried "Touch Me" but I have tried other muench yarns and always enjoy the final results, especially since I am always gifting my labor of loves away. I would really love to pamper myself and try the oh so soft and wonderful "Touch Me" yarn. Thanks JBW and Muench
ReplyDeleteI've never tried Touch Me, but it certainly looks like something I would love!
ReplyDeleteI love Touch Me! I made a tunic from it a few years ago and get so many compliments. So soft and flattering.
ReplyDeleteI fondle this yarn whenever I see it in the yarn shops, but have not yet had the opportunity to knit with it. I love the saturated colors and the squishy softness of it and I can imagine how it would feel knitted up.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes!! This yarn is so soft and cuddly. I love the previous posters' ideas of a bedtime snuggly and chemo caps!
ReplyDeleteI never used this yarn but it sounds like I am missing out! I'll have to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI love this yarn because it is soft, soft, soft and knits up beautifully.
ReplyDeleteIt is so soft and you just can't help touch the yarn. I have made hats and head bands. I have some hiding to make some thing special. I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteI have made three scarves out of this wonderful yarn and have given them all away. It is the most luscious yarn ever
ReplyDeleteWould love to win this soft yarn and try it out for myself. Josey
ReplyDeleteThis looks so soft and beautiful. I have never used it, but would love the chance to. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is the softest yarn ever. I used it in a shawl with Prism yarn-beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMuench is so soft and versatile. It can be knitted in the regular sense and then washed up to create a crushed velvet appearance.
ReplyDeleteBlueBell
I hate to admit this after finding out how longstandingly successful this yarn is, but I have never experienced this yarn. I am awestruck with what I have learned through this blog and posts and love the hat. It looks and sounds exquisite! Thank you for the knowledge and this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win the Touch Me hat kit. It is a great yarn!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Ooh, used touch me on my grandma for a lovely warm hat. It was beautiful, and I would love to have the chance to use more!
ReplyDeleteIt is always nice to be reminded of yarns we may have forgotten about. Touch Me is one of those "oldy, but goodie" yarns. Great hat!
ReplyDeleteIt is like velvet. The colors are like wine - rich and full bodied.
ReplyDeleteThis yarn looks absolutely gorgeous! Would love the chance to try it out myself, although that might be dangerous... :)
ReplyDeleteI love touch me because it's so soft and the colors are so rich!
ReplyDeleteI am knitting a lot of Chemo caps and would love to have the pattern for this one. I like that it was designed by someone who has experience in what is best, I always worry that it might not be a good hat for someone. Touch Me will make it so soft and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love Muench touch me because I knitted a different hat for my mother two years ago when she was going through chemo and she loved it. It looked so much better than a chemo handkerchief! And now, I'd love to knit myself something!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE this yarn. I bought some mostly to "pet", but did make my daughter a pair of mits. This yarn is wonderful, it looks and feels like old velvet after washing.
ReplyDeleteI love the way this yarn Feels~~ It is a definite touchable yarn, all you want to do it "pet it" And y'all know what I mean!
ReplyDeleteHeidi
I have ordered other yarns through Jimmy Beans but haven't tried "Touch Me" but would LOVE a chance especially since I've started my Christmas gift knitting!!
