A Midsummer Knit's Dream: JBW Retreat Recap!

Finally, finally, it's here, it's here! FIELD TRIP WEEK! It's been a long month of studying for summer school, so hop on the wool bus and let's take a trip together down memory lane. This last week, we hosted our very own Biggest Little Getaway here in Reno: A Jimmy Beans Wool Retreat. We had over 70 awesome people visit us to take part in four days of yarn and fiber fun!

The Getaway was kicked off in style with a speech from our very own Jimmy (aka Laura) and followed up with a fantastic activity designed by Michael and Dan from The Crochet Crowd.

We had a jam-packed schedule full of classes from awesome dyers and designers, including Linda Dean, Diane Soucy, Julee Mackessy, and Sheree Ashapa!

Jimmy (on the right!) was there all weekend with our fantastic retreaters, and brought in lots of fun, energy, and smiles!

We learned colorwork techniques with Diane Soucy...

...and some longtime knitters tried their hands at learning to crochet with Linda Dean!

Julee Mackessy taught a class on shawls that was a big hit!

And Sheree Ashapa helped us all dye yarn in fantastic oranges and yellows using onion skins, chamomile, and avocado pits!

These were just a few of our classes and events - we also had Unraveled Designs' Rachel Roden out on Sunday, and activities, giveaways, and meals with representatives from Shibui and Cascade, to name a few!

Were you at the retreat? Would you like to come sometime? We'd love to hear from you -- and keep your eye out for info on next year's retreat, too!
