FO Friday/ WIP Weekend

Wow! This has been a crazy week as the holidays get underway! All of us little beans have been running around the shop like little knitting tasmanian devils (but certainly much cuter.) I almost didn’t have a chance to collect photos for this weeks post! Thankfully, Jeanne and Bethany saved me yesterday! Thanks ladies!

So here’s what all of us little beans have been working on:

Sandy wowed us all this week with her beautiful Poet Society Tam by Madelintosh Patterns. We recently started carrying these patterns and i’m so glad we did because there are some beauties in there--this one in particular! Sandy knit hers in Tosh Vintage in

the Terrarium color and its absolutely gorgeous! Sandy, never ceases to amaze me with her knitting accomplishments!

She is definitely the true knitting guru around here!

I finally finished my fingerless mitts I started a couple of weeks

back in the Crystal Palace Mochi Plus yarn in the Spice Market color #603, and I have been wearing them like crazy! So much so that they are already starting to look a little well-loved. I used the Churchmouse designs Welted Fingerless Gloves pattern as a base for these, but I knit mine a bitdifferently. I really like the cuff on this pattern though, it keeps your wrists extra warm which I love and definitely need in the winter!

Jana, one of our lovely customers, came in to show off on of her hand knits this week! She knitted this darling sweater out of Rowan Little Big Wool (a discontinued yarn) a while back so we thought we’d get a picture of her modeling it to share with all of you! This if from Vogue Magazine’s Winter 08/09 issue and it is Raglan Jacket pattern #4. The original in the magazine was knitted in Twinkle Soft Chunky, but at the time we didn’t carry it so Jana went with the Rowan. Either way, this little

sweater is a beauty! Lovely work Jana!

With the holidays approaching, we all have many WIP’s on our needles. Sharon is knitting Christmas stockings for her and her sweetie this year

from the Knitting Pure and Simple pattern #277. She chose to knit them in the Stitch Nation “Full o’ Sheep” yarn. This is a new yarn that came out this year from Red Heart in collaboration with Debbie Stoller (of Stitch and Bitch fame). The 3 yarns in this collection are fabulous and perfect for the cost conscious knitter. Not only that, but the colors are absolutely amazing! Sharon’s stockings has inspired me to knit some of my own one of these days so I am definitely putting them on the list for next year!

Speaking of Stitch Nation, Amber, our little "non-knitter" knitter, started an All Day Beret out of Bamboo Ewe (a wool/bamboo blend) from the Debbie Stoller collection. This cute little tam pattern is a free on on the Stitch Nation website. It only takes one ball of the Bamboo Ewe which makes it an awesome gift project! You can’t beat that $4.99+ a little love= an awesome gift! Those kinds of projects are the best!

Last up for projects on our needles this week is the lovely sweater

Bethany has been working on. It is looking awesome! She is using the Green Line Worsted in the November 2010 Carmel Pumpkin Latte color (sorry, we’re out, but check out the December color “Sandy Clause”). The pattern is Knitting Pure and Simple #241 which is a perfect pattern for a first sweater! Bethany is almost finished with the yoke, and she’ll be putting the sleeves on holders very soon to finish knitting the body! I just love how easy Knitting Pure and Simple’s Top-down patterns are to follow. It’s just such an organic way of kitting a garment, and they are so fun to do!

Also, Amber and I will be wo-maning the Never Ender booth at the Rogue Holiday Craft Fair tomorrow (Saturday) at Rainshadow High School here in Reno. Lots of local artists and crafters will be selling their wares including myself (i've been knitting up a few slouchy hats and neckies for the occasion) so if you are in Reno and still looking for some holiday gifts, come on down and check it out and say hello to Amber and I. We'll just be hanging out and knitting!

So that’s it for this week’s FO’s and WIP’s--what’s on your needles? Please share!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. Love those fingerless mitts! To tell you the truth I really wasn't much attracted to crystal palace mochi plus until I saw your mitts! Now I must consider the possibilities, so many colors!
