So, I have that common problem that many knitters around me seem to have...the inability to stay in the present. I can't seem to start and finish a project in a timely manner without getting excited about something I saw on Ravelry or in the shop and deciding to cast on. This is why, like many other knitters, I have so many UFO's floating 'round my house. Twelve was my last count... How have I gotten to this point? Less than a year ago I had one maybe two going at a time, now I have TWELVE! Since I started working at JBW, it has become too easy to keep adding to the growing collection of projects. I justify new purchases with, "well, I won't always work in a yarn shop" or "but I need a small project to take on vacation," or "I need something mindless to knit on in the evenings when my brain is fried." Sound familiar?
I vowed never to become THAT knitter, but alas, I have. Which is why, when I was in the shop the other day looking at the new Knitting Pure and Simple Patterns and Spud & Chloe Yarns, I couldn't resist dreaming of future projects. I love the new KPS Neckdown Boatneck Pullover. For ages I have wanted a Navy and Cream Rugby Striped Boatneck Pullover and I think this would be the perfect easy pattern to do that in. I was thinking the new Spud & Chloe Sweater Yarn would be perfect. The "Lake" color is just about perfect for the navy. What I love about this yarn is how season-less it is. It really can be worn year round, and you can't beat the fact that it is machine washable! Gotta love it...
Anyway, I've been a good girl and have refrained from buying until I finish a few other projects. I'd like to get about half of these UFO's done by the time summer is over...let's see how successful I am... In the meantime, happy summer knitting to you all!

Glad to know there are others out there. I just down loaded an app to my i phone to keep track of UFO, needles and crochet hooks. Lately I am mindlessly picking up needles because it is too hard to look through my stash to see if I have them. UGH!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! I'll have to remember that tip.
