We had a sewing night...

Jenn and Kaity came to me recently and said show us the sewing way Jeanne, so of course I said when!!! After a little back and forth for the scheduling, which of course is usually the issue with any get together, we finalized a time and set up the machines!

Of course we grabbed a great free pattern on Craftsy, Double Sided Headband...and off we went. The girls were great about getting their supplies together and I brought a few little extras to help out in the process and encourage these budding seamstresses!! My basic supply list included a seam ripper, tape measure, and I taught them about fusible interfacing versus double sided fusible interfacing. They found this particularly helpful. We also delved into the side of corner clipping!!

The first thing we did was to read through the pattern and make sure we understood all the instructions before we started and we adjusted a bit to personalize things. We used a 1/4 inch seam allowance for the project and the headbands turned out great! We also chose to adjust the elastic on each head as we went, but found the math in the pattern great if you don't have a second person to help with this process.

I was very flattered that Jenn and Kaity told me they learned a bunch of interesting sewing terms and tips from our little class! For both of them this was their first formal project and they did a fantastic job don't you think?

Now they are both talking about their next project and Kaity wants to adjust the width of her headband and I will be showing her how to do that in the near future! I hope our little adventure encourages you to learn something new today!!

As always, happy knitting, crocheting and sewing!!
