Lace, Lace, Lace!!!

Now that warmer weather is here it can be very uncomfortable working on those heavy winter knitting projects. Who wants a wool afghan or sweater sitting on their lap in 90 degree heat? So how do we satisfy our need to knit without succumbing to the heat? Knit Lace!!! Knitting lace is the perfect solution to the warm weather knitting quandry! Now don't go thinking to yourself that lace is just too hard and you can never do it because it's not as hard as we lead ourselves to believe by looking at it. There are many patterns that are great for beginning lace knitters and we have several on our Free Pattern Pages that are perfect to try out like the Twin Leaf Beaded Scarf. Lace knit with lace weight yarns is light and airy, goes surprisingly fast, is small and compact making lace projects good traveling projects. I like knitting my lace weight yarn on size US #6 (4mm) needles.

We have some very exciting lace weight yarns like the new Zitron Filigran, Noro Sekku, Schulana Kid Seta and our great reliable standbys Cascade Alpaca Lace, Lane Borgosesia Cashwool, Lorna's Lace Helen's Lace, Filatura Di Crosa Superior and my all time favorite Rowan Kidsilk Haze. But don't limit your lace knitting to just lace weight yarns, feel free to knit lace from any weight yarn. Just use larger needles than the yarn suggests and have fun! Some other great summery yarns for knitting lace are Handmaiden Seasilk, Rowan Siena, Cascade Ultra Pima, Noro Aya and Debbie Bliss Amalfi.

Look for some new lace instructional videos coming soon and check our class list every month for knitting lace classes.

Don't wait to learn how to knit lace there is a whole wonderful world of making holes in your knitting.

Happy Knitting!
