Jimmy's Journey, Day 12 of 15: Just@Jimmy's!

Welcome to Day 12 of Jimmy's Journey to 15!

Have you heard about Jimmy's Journey to 15?! It's our 15th anniversary this year, and we will be sharing the story of JBW, year-by-year, here on our blog! Join us on the journey as we celebrate 15 years in business and highlight 15 partners in the yarn industry! Each day we'll kick off the blog post with a short clip of Jimmy (a.k.a. Laura) recounting one year of our history, while telling the story of a vendor who came along for the ride!

In this video, Jimmy thinks back to 2013 on our growing collection of Just@Jimmy's products, from Cupcakes and Tea Cakes to yarn bouquets and gift baskets! This is also the year she beautifies the retail shop and publishes Crochet Red, the second book in her trio of books raising awareness about Heart Disease.

Year 2013 in Review: The Beginning of Just@Jimmy's!

Jimmy's vision for breathing new life into some of the base products we carry came to fruition in the year 2013. The Cascade Cupcakes were such a big hit we quickly came up with more ways for our customers to sample yarns, the majority of them having some sort of food theme (yum!). We created (and eventually retired) Pure Wool Worsted Pickle Jars, Blue Sky Alpacas Valentine's Day Heart Samplers, Vice Yarns Wine Flight Samplers, Thanksgiving-themed Fit for a Feast, and more! Finally, we would eventually hit the sweet spot with Tosh Tea Cakes and Berroco Bento Boxes (Jimmy's favorite!), leading to the necessary creation of a production department with electronic winders to keep up with the demand! These samplers are still going strong, but like most of our samplers, have run their course and won't be around for much longer (so grab 'em before they're gone!).

In addition to our popular yarn samplers, we also began selling yarn bouquets that cleverly feature coordinating yarns perched on straight needle "stems" in a glass vase. Jimmy says she gleamed inspiration for these from her good friend Kirsten Muench. "She had made this cute bouquet with yarn and I immediately recognized its potential as a new and exciting gift item that could showcase some of our more popular or limited edition yarns."

Thank you for joining us on Day 12 of Jimmy's Journey to 15! Be sure to join us again tomorrow for Day 13, where we'll highlight our 13th year in business along with a vendor that joined us along the way! And be sure to check out our Ravelry discussion thread and chime in with any comments you may have as we reminisce together about the last 15 years! You can also spread the word on social media using the hashtag #jimmysjourney15.

XOXO,
