Jimmy's Journey, Day 13 of 15: Cascade

Welcome to Day 13 of Jimmy's Journey to 15!

Have you heard about Jimmy's Journey to 15?! It's our 15th anniversary this year, and we will be sharing the story of JBW, year-by-year, here on our blog! Join us on the journey as we celebrate 15 years in business and highlight 15 partners in the yarn industry! Each day we'll kick off the blog post with a short clip of Jimmy (a.k.a. Laura) recounting one year of our history, while telling the story of a vendor who came along for the ride!

In this video, Jimmy chats about several opportunities we had to partner up with some of our vendors to create more Just@Jimmy's exclusive products and yarns. This year we decided to test our luck by promoting our Stitch Mountain campaign on some crazy platforms, including a taxi cab! Jimmy continues to build her relationship with Cascade Yarns, and we create a beautiful friendship with one of the most influential yarn companies in the industry.

Our friends at Cascade sent us a HUGE shipment of regular-stock yarns for a great deal, and we want to share this deal with you! For today only, keep an eye out on Wool Watcher to score some amazing Cascade yarns up to 80% off! To keep the suspense brewing, we're not going to tell you which Cascade yarns are going to be featured throughout the day, but we can give you some project ideas for several yarns that you might find up on Wool Watcher. ;)

Year 13: 2014 in a Nutshell

In pursuit of expanding our Just@Jimmy's product collection, Jimmy created several new items unique to JBW this year. We began partnering up with Madelinetosh to create monthly limited edition colors, similar to our monthly LLE colors that we create with Lorna's Laces. We also launched our "Twelve Days of Yarnmas" campaign around the holiday season because Jimmy wanted to start featuring yarn from smaller, indie dyers. This sparked our current Micro-Brew subscription, where you can sign up to receive a skein of yarn each month from a different indie dyer to sample new yarns. Jimmy also began to write for the New York Times blog, and then wrote some pieces for Forbes shortly after. She even began to test the water with some new advertising platforms, and we wound up using ten taxi cabs here in the Reno area to advertise our Stitch Mountain campaign!

This year was also a year of growth for JBW and Cascade Yarns. Cascade has always held a special place in Jimmy's heart since she began knitting about 20 years ago, and she still remembers knitting her first garment ever out of Cascade Magnum. Although we had been carrying many of Cascade's yarns for several years now in 2014, Jimmy began to form a very close-knit (pun definitely intended) relationship with Shannon and Rob, Cascade's owners. This year she decided to start carrying every single color of Cascade 220 yarns (101, in case you were curious!). Jimmy always enjoys getting to work with Cascade and they have become one of our go-to vendors whenever we want to launch a new project or pitch one of Jimmy's "crazy ideas." We have worked with Cascade for numerous Just@Jimmy products, hosted them at our shop for "yarn tasting" events, visited their facility up in Washington, and we are currently participating in their 30th Anniversary Knitterati Afghan kit. We adore Cascade and all the memories we have shared over the years.

  1. It is necessary to understand what a synthesis paper is in order to pick the best option from the synthesis essay themes offered to you. Defining a synthesis essay is quite easy once you understand what “to synthesize” means—namely, to form a single whole by putting separate pieces together. A synthesis essay, on the other hand, challenges students to piece together information or facts from a variety of sources in order to construct a single argument that shows their perspective on the subject. The difficulty of writing a synthesis essay derives from the fact that students must not only summarize but also explain the exact relationships between the various pieces of information they gather from their sources.
