Jimmy's Journey, Day 11 of 15: Swans Island

Welcome to Day 11 of Jimmy's Journey to 15!

Have you heard about Jimmy's Journey to 15?! It's our 15th anniversary this year, and we will be sharing the story of JBW, year-by-year, here on our blog! Join us on the journey as we celebrate 15 years in business and highlight 15 partners in the yarn industry! Each day we'll kick off the blog post with a short clip of Jimmy (a.k.a. Laura) recounting one year of our history, while telling the story of a vendor who came along for the ride!

In this video, Jimmy reminisces on publishing her first book, Knit Red, as part of the Stitch Red campaign she launched during the previous year. She also chats about launching Stitch Mountain, a new campaign to support the U.S. Ski Team. This year Jimmy also becomes immersed in all things Swans Island and falls in love with their quality and look.

With all-natural fibers spun and dyed in the heart of New England, this American-made yarn is top quality and undeniably gorgeous. We have one-of-a-kind skeins, as well as Grab Bags, in all yarn bases and weights, perfect for that special project that you've been wanting to treat yourself with. We are crazy about this yarn and we have plenty of project inspiration to share with you!

BONUS! To sweeten the pot, we're including a small free gift in every order placed during our 15 days of Jimmy's Journey, as a token of our gratitude to all of our amazing customers out there!

Year 11 In Review

Natural Colors Worsted Onesies
Jimmy and the Beans were incredibly busy heading into 2012. The Knit Red book was a huge success and Jimmy received a ton of awesome feedback about the book's message and the massive collaboration with countless designers. Jimmy also launched the Stitch Mountain campaign this year, and had the chance to meet with several pro skiers and snowboarders on the U.S. team to spread the movement. We released our first Olympics-inspired color during the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games and the color sold out almost instantly. It is still one of our most popular LLE colors to this day.

Jimmy was looking to expand JBW's inventory this year and she met with Maxine, a sales representative for Swans Island. Jimmy instantly became infatuated with Swans Island's entire brand. Being a family-owned company and driven to create earth-friendly products, Jimmy felt a deep connection to Swans Island's story and philosophy. She also loved how simple and elegant their products were: "I remember being so drawn to their color palette and natural, organic style. I could picture my entire home decor being made out of Swans Island." Jimmy's favorite Swans Island product is the All-American base because the colors and texture of these yarns are beautifully rustic and homey.

Thank you for joining us on Day 11 of Jimmy's Journey to 15! Be sure to stop by again tomorrow for Day 12, where we'll highlight our 12th year in business along with a vendor that joined the journey with us. Also be sure to check out our Ravelry discussion thread and reminisce with us about the last 15 years. You can spread the word on social media using the hashtag #jimmysjourney15!
