Jimmy's Journey, Day 8 of 15: Spud & Chloe

Welcome to Day 8 of Jimmy's Journey to 15!

Have you heard about Jimmy's Journey to 15?! It's our 15th anniversary this year, and we will be sharing the story of JBW, year-by-year, here on our blog! Join us on the journey as we celebrate 15 years in business and highlight 15 partners in the yarn industry! Each day we'll kick off the blog post with a short clip of Jimmy (a.k.a. Laura) recounting one year of our history, while telling the story of a vendor who came along for the ride!

In this video, Jimmy reflects on the birth of her son, Huck, in May of 2009, as well as the continued growth and presence of Jimmy Beans Wool in the press. She also discusses the birth of Spud & Chloe, a new yarn brand under Blue Sky Fibers.

2009: Year Eight in a Nutshell

Huck wearing his own Hoot Hat
2009 was a big year for us at JBW as we continued to spread our name and love for yarn across the country. Jimmy did several interviews for both local and national media sources, and the company began to get more and more recognition in the business world as well. As JBW continued to grow, the Zander family also grew in size this year. Jimmy and Doug welcomed their son Huckleberry (a.k.a. Huck) into the world in May and their lives changed forever. Jimmy and Doug both worked full-time as business owners and parents, and they embraced this new challenge as the most fulfilling and rewarding aspect of their journey together.

2009 was also a year of growth for our good friends over at Blue Sky Fibers. Linda, the founder and owner of BSF, decided that she wanted to create a new line of washable and family-friendly yarn with a different theme than her normal Blue Sky yarns. She launched the Spud & Chloe yarn line, and Jimmy instantly fell in love with its whimsical and unique brand. Spud & Chloe has three yarn bases - Fine, Sweater, and Outer - and Jimmy began carrying all three of these yarns shortly after they were released. Jimmy loved the branding of this new line so much that she reached out to Linda to find out who created all the graphic design work for Spud & Chloe. Jimmy eventually partnered up with the graphic designer, Jamie, to revamp the JBW logo, the website, and even to do all the design work for our big Stitch Mountain campaign a few years later.

Thank you for joining us on Day 8 of Jimmy's Journey to 15! Be sure to stop by again tomorrow for Day 9, where we'll highlight our 9th year in business along with a vendor that joined the journey with us. Also be sure to check out our Ravelry discussion thread and reminisce with us about the last 15 years. You can spread the word on social media using the hashtag #jimmysjourney15!

XOXO,
